Regions and settlements
← wiki index · sortable list · world map
RIS's map has been heavily researched and reworked to give historically accurate regions with distinct flavour and more campaign depth.
The growth and development of all 1,305 settlements is determined by their terrain, climate, natural harbour, and water source. These features impact available options for various building chains including farms, ports, and health/ sanitation buildings.
Regions also feature extensively re-worked trade goods, which influence trade and new building chains for industrial buildings within settlements.
Pay attention to the building browser for each settlement to see what options are available to you.
Note that as building chains develop, buildings will increasingly involve trade offs with others, meaning that more prioritisation and settlement specialisation will be needed.
Settlements
Size is one of 5 levels, and it decides what a settlement can build and raise.
| Size | Settlements at start | Size | Settlements at start | Size | Settlements at start | Size | Settlements at start |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Town | 716 | Large town | 481 | City | 89 | Large city | 15 |

- Fertility: how rich the farmland is
