Mobilization of the Machimoi
Who gets it: Ptolemaic Empire, Ptolemaic Rebels and Egyptians
Hail, pharaoh! Macedonian and Greek manpower is hard to come by, and the everlasting war against the Seleucids and our own rebellious subjects is draining our small pool of true Hellenes... Fortunately, the local Egyptian population is swelling, and they are eager to fight! If we provide them with a small plot of land to sustain themselves, and train them in our superior Macedonian tradition, we can draft thousands of these ‘Machimoi’ (warriors) into our army. These men are willing to die for you, and for the Ptolemaic Empire. The bravest might even form ‘Epilektoi’ regiments and could guard our court! Beware, though, that they do not get too powerful, as rumours of the local’s strive for independence have been snuffed out within the ranks of these new recruits…
