Government (direct rule)
Main campaignRIS Classic
A single-level building: there is nothing to upgrade it into.
Direct Rule
Direct Rule
Our state has chosen to exert its control over this region, not trusting the local people to properly act in our interest we have set our own officials in charge of administration, taxation and all matters of governance. Our laws now prevail in these lands rather than their own ancient customs. It is true that these people may not appreciate us taking such a direct interest in their lives but in time they may come to see the benefits of living in our new order.
Strategy
Direct Rule represents our state exerting direct control on this region through the appointment of state officials. As such you will enjoy full tax and trade revenues, while offering a good chance of converting the local culture given further investment.
You will also have acces to all relevant buildings such as grain imports, resource exports, colonies, garrisons and law courts. Temples will spread your own culture when upgraded. Your full factional roster is available when colonies are built.
The advantages are the unlocking the full economic potential of the region and reducing corruption with garrisons and law courts. But at a higher cost and with unhappiness from reduced autonomy that increases with settlement size.
| Cost | 4,000 denarii | Build time | 1 turn | Minimum settlement | town |
Requirements: all of these must hold before this level can be built.
